There will be days as a divorced or divorcing parent when you have to surrender to what is. You will not be able to get a 4 course meal on the table for dinner, or full country breakfast at daybreak.  Sometimes, a lot of times, everyone will have to make do with cereal for lunch.

Yes I am confessing.  My kids have had a nutritious bowl of multi grain cereal with vanilla soy milk for lunch.  I am not feeling ashamed or guilty or annoyed.  It was readily available.  It didn't require a whole lot of thought or preparation.  Sometimes you gotta cut yourself some slack.  Sometimes you gotta put down the perfect mommy routine and go for just ensuring they eat!

Trying to do it all will send you into a breakdown.  Trying to keep things as close to as they were before the separation/divorce will only prolong the inevitable, YOU CAN'T KEEP ALL THE BALLS IN THE AIR FOR TOO LONG!  At some point they are going to come crashing down and pop you in the head.  I am suggesting, take a few balls out of the air... have cereal for lunch.

Mommy is not crazy and your kids will love you all the more for it. Besides, cereal for lunch is the best kid pleasure, second only to candy before dinner.  So go easy.  Take the pressure off.

Have cereal for lunch.

Thank you for posting this and sharing the feelings we all have! The other day I was feeling pretty low...it was just one of those days. It took every ounce of energy to pull myself out of bed and yet I was walking around like a zombie feeling sorry for myself. Well we ended up having frozen eggos and applesauce for lunch and at first I felt guilty but it will be okay my daughter will be fine.
