When my then-now-Ex husband left our marriage and our home. We all were sad. We were beyond sad. It was devastating. I can still remember the heightened sense of fear and uncertainty that surrounded me.

Whatever was I going to do? We needed a little Christmas right that very minute. So I pulled out all our Christmas Cd's collected over the years, and put them on blast. We baked cookies and sang songs in JULY!

In that moment I knew we were going to be alright. I rewrote the script for that day; instead of lingering in the place of uncertainty, fear, doubt and lack. I chose to sing a different tune. Songs of renewal and hope and glad tidings.

Where ever you are in the divorcing process, gather your kids, friends and neighbors and embrace the spirit of the season…who cares if it’s technically not Christmas. Let the spirit of the season renew your sense of joy….in any and every season.

Out of all that sadness has come a time honored tradition for us.  Every year we celebrate Christmas in July.  We bake cookies, blast our favorite holiday Cd's and celebrate how far we have come.

Merry Christmas!

That is how you change the story by creating something new to remember this date by to something you celebrate.
